Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Denmark, accredited to the Republic of Iceland Lương Thanh Nghị
Lương Thanh Nghị, a career diplomat, is Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Kingdom of Denmark,
accredited to the Republic of Iceland. A veteran diplomat with broad
experiences in journalism and communication, he has a career spanning over three
decades in various senior positions.
He most recently served as the Vice Chairman of the State Commission on
Overseas Vietnamese, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam (2017-2022).
From 2014 to 2017, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Australia.
Prior to these assignments, Ambassador Lương Thanh Nghị was Director
General of the Department of Information and the Press, and Spokesperson of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011-2014). Ambassador Lương Thanh Nghị was
Director General of the Foreign Press Center (2008-2011) and Deputy Director
General of the Department of Information and the Press (2006-2008).
From 2003 to 2006, he was Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General
of Vietnam in Osaka, Japan.
Joining the Foreign Press Center, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as a Desk
Officer in 1989, he and was promoted to Deputy Director in 1997 and Deputy
Director General in 1999.
He graduated from the University of Foreign Affairs (now the Diplomatic
Academy of Vietnam) in 1988 and completed advanced courses in journalism and
communication in Tokyo, Japan in 1993. He is fluent in English and Japanese.
Ambassador Lương Thanh Nghị was born in Hà Nam in 1965 and is married
with two children.
